TapGraded ("we," "us," "our") operates this website, tapgraded.com (the "Site"). This policy describes what information the Site collects and how it is used. Primary contact: contact@tapgraded.com.
U.S. audience only. The Site is intended for users in the United States and is not directed to individuals in the EEA/UK. If you are located in the EEA/UK, please do not submit personal information to this Site.
Quick summary
- We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand Site usage and improve content.
- If you sign up for water alerts, we store the email address and ZIP code you give us and use them only to send those alerts.
- We do not set our own tracking cookies beyond those used by Google for analytics.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Email contact@tapgraded.com to unsubscribe, delete your data, or exercise state privacy rights.
Water-alert signups
The one place the Site asks you for personal information directly is the water-alert signup, which collects an email address and a ZIP code. We store them in our own database and use them for exactly one purpose: emailing you about your area's water systems (such as new violations or grade changes). We do not use signup data for marketing, do not enrich it with other sources, and do not sell or share it with anyone. Signup requests are rate-limited by IP address to prevent abuse; the IP is used transiently for that check.
To unsubscribe or have your signup deleted entirely, email contact@tapgraded.com from the address you signed up with, or use the unsubscribe mechanism in any alert email. Deletion requests are honored promptly.

Categories of personal information collected
- Identifiers/technical data (cookie or client IDs, IP address at request time, device/browser type), collected via Google Analytics.
- Internet or network activity (pages viewed, clicks, time on page, referring URLs).
- Approximate geolocation (city/region inferred from IP at request time).
- Email address and ZIP code, if you voluntarily sign up for water alerts.
Purposes of use
- Site analytics, performance, debugging, security, and content improvement.
- Sending the water alerts you signed up for.
Disclosure to service providers: Google LLC (analytics) and our hosting provider, acting as service providers under applicable laws. Retention: GA4 event-level data is retained for the period configured in our property; alert signups are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Selling or sharing: we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
What we collect through analytics
Beyond alert signups and any email you send us, we do not intentionally collect data that directly identifies you. Through GA4, Google may process device and browser information, usage data, approximate location derived from IP, and technical identifiers (cookies/client ID) that recognize returning visits. We do not enable GA4 User-ID and do not send user-provided data (such as hashed emails) to Google.
Cookies
We do not set our own analytics or advertising cookies; Google Analytics sets its own to measure engagement. You can use Google's opt-out browser add-on or block/delete cookies in your browser settings.
Google Analytics (GA4)
GA4 generates aggregated statistics about Site usage and may process data on servers in the U.S. and other countries. GA4 does not expose full IP addresses in reports; IPs may be used transiently to derive approximate location. We do not use Google signals, ads personalization, or remarketing; if that ever changes, this policy will be updated first. See how Google uses data from partner sites and the Google Privacy Policy.
Affiliate links
Some filter-guide pages contain affiliate links to third-party retailers. Clicking one takes you to the third party's site, whose own privacy practices then apply; we receive aggregate commission reporting from affiliate programs, not your identity or purchase details.
Your privacy rights (U.S. state laws)
Depending on your state, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information; to know what was collected; to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising (we do none of these); and to appeal a decision. To submit a request, email contact@tapgraded.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify the request to a reasonable degree (typically by corresponding at the email address involved) and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we refuse a request, you may appeal by replying "Appeal" to our decision email.
Data security
We maintain reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact contact@tapgraded.com and we will delete it.
Third-party links
The Site links to third-party websites (EPA sources, laboratories, retailers) we do not control. Their privacy and security practices are governed by their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision; material changes will be posted on this page.
